Well, another year has passed, with many events to
remember 2009 by. We celebrated some milestones, traveled a bit, and are
getting ready for a major change in our life for 2010.
A big milestone this year was Emily’s graduation from
High School. Our nephew Chris, also graduated this year, and we had a joint
party to celebrate at Chris’ house during the 4th of July
weekend. (Thanks to Kathy & Bill, -John’s sister and brother-in-law- who
graciously offered to do this at their house!) It was one of the few weekend
days this summer with great weather, and everyone had a great time. Both
kids were accepted to the University of Connecticut, started there in
September, and unbelievably ended up in the same dorm building! Who would
have thought that would happen? They are both doing great there and
adjusting well to college life.
Just a couple of days after the party, we took a
two-week family vacation to Disney World in Florida. We hadn’t been there
for 11 years, so it was a special trip. John and Lenore also took a couple
of days to drive down to the Fort Myers area to visit Lenore’s best friend
Wendy. We hadn’t seen her and her husband since Maggie’s wedding in 2007,
and we had a nice visit.
Another milestone was Lenore’s 50th birthday
in September. John and the kids threw a party for her, and flew Wendy up
from Florida for the weekend!! That was a huge surprise. So, Lenore got to
spend time with her twice this year.
In May, Lenore competed in the Connecticut State
Women’s Bowling Tournament and placed in the top 10 in most of the events,
including 1st place in the Doubles category. There was a State
Bowling Association dinner to celebrate the 1st place winners in
October.
John and Lenore took several short trips this year,
also. A couple of trips to Atlantic City, as well as to Kittery, Maine, and
North Conway, New Hampshire to set up Lenore’s jewelry displays in Cape Cod
Crafter stores in those places.
John also went to Alabama in December to take a
week-long class in Weapons of Mass Destruction. And he will be going to Las
Vegas at the end of January for another similar, week long class.
The biggest news of the year, though, is that after
living in Bridgeport for 26 years (23 in our present house), we will be
moving to Shelton, CT in mid 2010. We are in the process of buying a
moderately sized ranch house with a beautiful yard. The closing is set for
just after New Year’s, but we will be doing some renovations before we
actually move in. We will send our new address to everyone when we move.
We wish everyone Happy Holidays,
and a great New Year!
With
Love From
Lenore, John, Andrew, Emily, & Roxy
